Treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and you help them to become what they are capable of being! People may not remember what you did or said, but they will always remember how you made them feel! -Straight from the Pig Farm
Wampler’s value statements begin with this promise, “We act with absolute honesty, integrity and fairness in the way we conduct our business and the way we live our lives.” These values go back to 1947 when Ted Wampler, Sr., and his dad, Riley, each invested $1,100 to reopen a version of the old family business, Wampler’s Slaughter House, which had closed during WWII. A recent high school grad, Ted's money came mostly from childhood savings earned by picking and selling blackberries and selling fish bait. The first cooler, a small 6'x 8', was bought for $38, and the Wampler Farm Sausage brand was born. Utilizing solar power, the company is now one of the most modern, sanitary meat plants in the industry. It’s a story of business, faith, and family…”A Family Tradition, Made on the Farm in Tennessee.”
Ted Wampler of Lenoir City has been an active community and business leader for many years. He will take us on a journey from a humble beginning to a modern plant under the American free enterprise system. Ted will also offer keys that he believes to be helpful in unlocking doors to a successful family business.
