All aboard! It's our 9th birthday, and we're inviting you and your family to take a trip with us on a rolling time machine with the sights and sounds of yesteryear... just like the good ol' days!

Join us on the Tennessee Valley Railroad on Sunday, November 17, for a relaxing afternoon train ride with our families around the beautiful Hiwassee Loop during peak leaf season!

We will enjoy a 50 mile round trip through the beautiful lower Hiwassee River gorge. This 4 hour trip will take you to the top of the famous "Hiwassee Loop" where the tracks cross over themselves as they corkscrew up the mountain near Farner, Tennessee.

The railroad over which Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum trains travel on its Hiwassee River Rail Adventures was formerly part of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad’s Atlanta Division stretching between Etowah, Tennessee and Marietta, Georgia. Learn More

Times & Fares:

It is suggested that you arrive 30 minutes before the departure time. Departure from Etowah is 1:30 p.m., return is approximately 6:15 p.m. This train departs from Etowah, Tennessee (NOT from Chattanooga).

The train depot in Etowah is approximately 60-70 minutes from Knoxville depending on your exact location... Just enough time to leave church and grab some lunch on the go! Driving directions to train depot...

We will be riding coach. Adult coach seats are $50 each; children are $34 each. Children under 2 years ride free if not occupying a seat. All trains run rain or shine, and ticket sales are final. Very limited seating... Purchase Tickets in Advance HERE!

Additional Information:

• We'll have a birthday treat for all! Plus snack items are available for sale on the train including soft drinks, coffee, water, chips, crackers, and candy bars.
• Souvenirs are sold onboard including t-shirts, caps, and books.   
• Restrooms are located on each train car.   
• Trains consist of enclosed, climate-controlled coaches pulled by a diesel locomotive.   
• Coach seating is open (but tickets must be purchased in advance). 
• We will meet at the L&N Depot & Museum located at 727 Tennessee Ave SOUTH in Etowah, Tennessee 37331. From there we will be shuttled to the train for boarding. 
• Ticket Pick-Up/Will Call: At the L&N depot in Etowah, proceed to the first door on the left after walking in the depot, NOT the big window with the "Tickets". **Please remember to bring your online voucher/receipt to the L&N depot for your official Tennessee Valley Railroad keepsake ticket.**

As we enter our 10th year at TLC, there's nowhere else we'd rather be than with you on our birthday! When we started The Legacy Centre nine years ago on November 17, 2010, we could not have imagined what a blessing it has been to connect, grow, and serve alongside each of you. So grateful! We can't wait to spend the afternoon together in celebration with your family as we enjoy Tennessee's glorious scenery, fall colors, and good conversation. It just doesn't get much better than this!
