Pay, Play or Delay: Insights and analysis for a new era in employee benefits
January 1, 2014, begins a new era in employee benefits. This new era has an unprecedented level of government spending for healthcare services, potential new taxes for employers and their employees, and a unique opportunity to reconsider whether a traditional company-sponsored group health plan does anything for your employees despite its significant cost. Since medium and large businesses have just been granted a one-year extension on the enforcement of the employer mandate and related reporting requirements, these companies have an opportunity they may never have again to explore the benefits of the new law without having to pay the new taxes to support it.
Join us for an opportunity to learn more about the analysis you need to support your pay-play-or-delay decision as well as insight on new employer responsibilities and new developments in the Knoxville healthcare scene.
The Experts:
Jeff Hinton, owner of Knoxville Insurance Corp. and Founder/President of Careadigm, Inc., has over twenty-five years of corporate finance and healthcare experience. Knoxville Insurance Corp. is a fourth generation family-owned insurance agency that has served Knoxville since 1926.
Jeff has an MBA from Vanderbilt University and started his career as a CPA with Ernst & Young in Nashville. He served as the CFO of Matria Healthcare, a public company with over $300 million in annual revenues. Matria was hired by Fortune 500 corporations and regional health plans to manage the chronic conditions of their employees and members, reduce medical cost trend, improve productivity and promote health and wellness programs. Mr. Hinton also served as the CFO of MedCath Corporation, a cardiac hospital company that owned and operated ten hospitals with annual revenues of more than $700 million.
Carla Stiner Reel will be presenting as well. Carla has served Knoxville and East Tennessee for over 25 years as a healthcare and benefit specialist. For the last six years, she has focused on helping families obtain coverage for the expensive and unexpected events of life and the increasing shift in healthcare costs from employers to their employees that few families are financially prepared to address. Her work in the area of voluntary benefits helps families meet these challenges by providing affordable disability and specialized policies for cancer, critical illness, accidents, disabilities and life insurance. Her hands-on approach with employees in face-to-face meetings facilitates a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of their overall benefit package. She has a passion to serve her clients and takes their financial security as a top priority.
