Tour of Bush Brothers Visitor Center

Bush Brothers Tour

As part of our annual Celebration of Family Business Month, TLC families will be taking a trip over to the home of Bush's Beans - Bush Brothers Visitor Center in Chestnut Hill on Saturday, October 26. Of course, you may stay as long as you desire, but you can count on us being there between 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

During our stay, we will tour A.J. Bush's General Store and Museum and grab some lunch at Bush's Family Café. It's all housed in the original A.J. Bush & Company General Store, founded in 1897 and right next door to A.J. & Sallie Bush's old homestead. Among other things, your family can trace the values and events that made Bush's what it is today, get a sneak peek at what goes into making those famous beans, watch a "behind the scenes" video in the Museum Theatre, taste a variety of bean dishes at the Café, and more fun for the entire family! In fact, the Bush family has recommended that we try the pinto bean pie. That will be a first, and we cannot wait!

Just watch out! The drive up should be pleasant - you know - nice company, changing leaves, and beautiful scenery. The trip home? Let's just say you should not have to stop for gas! On second thought... Fun times! :)

We look forward to spending the afternoon with your family!

Here's a quick checklist of what you need to know and/or do:

  • Register online by Thursday at noon via the link above with the names/number of family members who will be in your party.
  • Leave early enough on Saturday morning to get to Chestnut Hill by 10:30 a.m. (It should take you about one hour from Knoxville - see map/directions via link above.)
  • Arrive safe and sound! We'll be looking for your family's smiling faces at the entrance to the Visitor Center at 10:30 a.m. BVC's General Manager Max Fultz will greet us.
  • Admission is free. Just make sure you have some money for lunch at Bush Beans Café. We will eat lunch together around 11:45 a.m.
  • Hopefully enjoy some great fall weather on the road and then hurry home to cheer on the Vols at Alabama starting at 3:30 p.m. on CBS. :)

Registration Note: Please let us know the number of people in your family who plan to attend as soon as possible. With 800-900 visitors per day during peak leaf season, they will need to reserve enough seating for us in Bush's Café. Thanks!
