Join us on January 10, as entrepreneur Dr. Terry Douglass will share three principles that have guided him throughout his personal life, business, current enterprises, ministries, and relationships.
Born and raised in Jackson, Tennessee, Terry Douglass has become something of an entrepreneurial legend in this region. Serving as President and CEO of CTI Molecular Imaging, he helped develop and commercialize positron emission tomography (PET) technology, including the development of PET cyclotron technology and PET radiopharmaceutical delivery. CTI grew to $450 million in sales and 1000 employees before being sold to Siemens for over $1 billion in 2005.
Currently, Dr. Douglass is leading the development of a world-class comprehensive cancer care program located at Dowell Springs in Knoxville, which will include the Provision Health Alliance (PHA) and the Provision Center for Proton Therapy (PCPT). Scheduled to open this month, PCPT is the first proton therapy cancer treatment center in the mid-South region of the US and offers the most advanced cancer treatment in the world. Proton therapy treats various forms of cancer, allowing the patient to experience a better quality of life, fewer side effects, and a high cure rate. Because of this, cancer patients from around the country will travel to East Tennessee in search of healing. ProNova Solutions, LLC, is the only US based developer, manufacturer, and distributor of multi-room next-generation proton therapy equipment and solutions. ProNova is expected to create more than 4,000 jobs, and annual projected sales exceed $2.7 billion in 2022.
Throughout Douglass’s work, there is an undeniable thread of stewardship. Meet Our Speaker: Terry Douglass, Ph.D.
Terry Douglass is the Chairman of the Provision Center for Proton Therapy and ProNova Solutions, LLC. He is also currently President of Provision Healthcare, LLC, and Provision Trust, Inc., and Chairman of the Board of Provision Foundation.
Dr. Douglass served as the Chairman of the Board of CTI Molecular Imaging, Inc., a public company that specialized in the development, production and distribution of products and services for the medical diagnostic imaging market from 1983 to 2005 when it was acquired by Siemens at a market capitalization of $1 billion. He also served as President and CEO of CTI Molecular Imaging from its formation in 1983 until 2003. During this tenure, Dr. Douglass played an integral role in the development and commercialization of positron emission technology (PET) and its development globally, including PET cyclotron technology that now plays a significant role in proton therapy. He was also instrumental in the development of Medicare reimbursement for PET services. From 1968 to 1983, Dr. Douglass was employed at EG&G Ortec, where he served as President during the last three years of service.
Dr. Douglass is currently leading the development of the Provision Healthcare Alliance, the start-up of Provision Center for Proton Therapy, and the development of the next-generation proton therapy solutions through a new start-up, ProNova Solutions, LLC.
Dr. Douglass has served or is serving on the following boards: Provision Foundation, LLC, Provision Healthcare, LLC, East Tennessee Diagnostic Center, LLC, Provision Health Partners, LLC, Provision Properties, LLC, CTI Molecular Imaging, Inc., Cyclotron Systems Inc., PETNet Pharmaceutical Services, Inc., Computational Systems, Inc., YMCA, Knoxville Chamber of Commerce, Hope Resource Center, Young Life, and the UT Medical Center Biomedical Imaging Foundation.
Dr. Douglass graduated with B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee.
Married with three children and 11 grandchildren, Douglass's ministry interests include Haiti, China, and international students.
